Jefferson State Community College's GED prep classes are offered for free to adult learners wishing to earn their high school equivalency credential. Courses blend computer-based teaching, traditional instruction, and study groups. These classes are available at the Shelby-Hoover and Jefferson Campuses, as well as several other Birmingham-area locations.
Teaching Artist Anna Nichols will lead on-going clay workshops beginning in August this year. Nichols is an experienced teacher and skilled potter, living in Birmingham, Alabama. Each workshop will include the pottery wheel and hand-building, and are great for students of all skill levels.

Cobscook Community Learning Center CCLC is a grassroots organization in coastal Downeast Maine, with a mission to create responsive educational opportunities that strengthen personal, community, and global well-being. Founded in by a diverse group of community members, the CCLC has established itself as a vital rural education hub and resource for individual and community development, building upon principles and practices of social ecology, and Indigenous, popular, folk, and experiential education. CCLC operates three divisions: Cobscook Experiential Programs, an interdisciplinary 4-year public high school alternative; Retreats and Community Programs, including a green-designed lodge and immersion learning center; and TREE Transforming Rural Experience in Educationan educational initiative to foster whole-child, trauma-informed learning environments in rural schools.
